Personal
Introduction

Championing Health Equity, Gender Equality, and Systems Strengthening Through Data-Driven and Digital Innovations

As a committed public health professional, I have dedicated my career to strengthening health systems and advancing sustainable development goals (SDGs) across Africa. With a deep focus on improving health equity and mainstreaming gender in public health programs, I have utilized my expertise in data analytics, program design, and cross-sectoral collaboration to address critical public health challenges—ranging from malaria control to routine immunization.

Over the past four years, I have led and contributed to high-impact projects in Nigeria, Guinea, and the Niger Republic, working closely with government bodies, international organizations, and private sector stakeholders. My work prioritizes the integration of gender-responsive strategies into health program implementation, ensuring that women and marginalized groups are fully considered in decision-making processes. By focusing on the intersection of health systems strengthening, digital innovation, and gender equity, I aim to build resilient, inclusive health systems that address the needs of vulnerable populations.

Master's in Public Health (MPH) – University of Warwick, United Kingdom

My journey at the University of Warwick was marked by both academic excellence and leadership, solidifying my commitment to advancing global health. As a recipient of the prestigious Commonwealth Shared Scholarship, I was recognized for my leadership potential and commitment to public health in low- and middle-income countries. I excelled in my studies, graduating with Distinction and earning the honour of being named the Best Graduating MPH Student.

This dissertation explores the help-seeking pathways of individuals with mental disorders in Nigeria, focusing on both orthodox and alternative health systems. Through a systematic review of 15 studies, the research identifies faith healers as the most common initial contact for individuals with mental illness, followed by psychiatrists in later stages of care. Key factors influencing the choice of initial treatment contacts include residence, religion, and social support networks.

The methodology involved comprehensive searches across eight electronic databases, manual searches of reference lists, and forward citation mapping. This review highlights the importance of integrating alternative healers into mental health programs and enhancing mental health literacy to reduce delays in treatment. The findings offer valuable insights for shaping mental health interventions in Nigeria, particularly by optimizing the role of faith healers and alternative care systems.

Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science – University of Nigeria, Nsukka

At the University of Nigeria, I was recognized as the Best Graduating Student in both the Faculty of Health Sciences and the Department of Medical Laboratory Science, graduating with First Class Honors. My academic achievements reflect my early dedication to health systems improvement, and I graduated as one of the top students in my field.

This study investigates the impact of chronic occupational exposure to petroleum products on hematological and biochemical parameters among workers in Nigeria. The research aimed to evaluate the potential health risks posed by prolonged exposure to these chemicals, focusing on blood indices and liver function markers. Using a cross-sectional study design, blood samples were collected and analyzed from workers exposed to petroleum products, compared with a control group. The findings revealed significant alterations in hematological and biochemical parameters, indicating potential health hazards associated with such occupational exposure. The study underscores the need for regular health monitoring and stricter regulatory measures to protect workers in petroleum-related industries from long-term health complications.
